The fresco, now detached and placed on new media, was previously in an existing niche in the sacristy. It represents the scene of the scourging of Christ. The body of Jesus, with face bowed, a sign of his silent suffering, is covered by a red cloak, a symbol of his sacrifice, the yield of the figure is not well proportioned and with a little rhythmic but it still dominates the scene in which it most a narrative tone rather than symbolic and contemplative. This effect seems clear in the faces of the Jews, placed in a semicircle around the Christ, which are popular traits, some accusatory tone, others shaken by the humiliation inflicted on Jesus also made the "popular" figures and the warm colors in shades of red and brown give the scene a certain naturalism that recalls definitely a southern area, maybe in Naples.
